Languages
Today SayPep dictates in English. The speech model it uses, OpenAI’s Whisper, can recognize 100 languages, but the app is set to English for now.
What works today
- English Tested: dictation, punctuation, and all voice commands.
- Voice commands are English-only: the wake words (“Hey beautiful”, “Hey chat”, “Hey SayPep”), sign-offs like “thanks”, “that's all, babe”, “send it, gorgeous”, “cancel” and “scratch that”.
- Speech model: Whisper, running on your computer. By default SayPep uses an English-only model:
small.en(orbase.enon computers with 4 or fewer CPU cores). Computers with an NVIDIA GPU uselarge-v3-turbo, still set to English.
Other languages
These languages are supported by the Whisper speech model but are not yet available in SayPep. We haven’t tested them. When we add a language setting, accuracy will vary a lot by language and model size: widely spoken languages generally do much better than less common ones, and the small models SayPep uses on most computers are less accurate than large ones.

First time opening? A one-time warning is normal
The app isn’t signed with Apple or Microsoft yet (that’s in progress), so your computer asks you to confirm the first time. You only do this once.
Mac: open the downloaded file and drag SayPep to Applications. If macOS says it can’t be opened, right-click (or Control-click) SayPep in Applications and choose Open, then Open again. On newer macOS, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
Windows: if a blue “Windows protected your PC” box appears, click More info, then Run anyway.
